Kičevo – Ohrid motorway
Geotechnical investigations of the route and its landslides, piles and anchors, inclinometer monitoring and laboratory control on one of the most demanding sections of Corridor 8.
One route – 19 projects
The Kičevo – Ohrid motorway crosses some of the most geologically complex ground in North Macedonia: steep slopes, schists and active landslides. GHI has been working on the route for more than 15 years – from the first investigations through to construction and quality control.
We have worked for the contractors and designers on the route – Sinohydro, Granit, Ilinden, Transmet, Geoing MK and others. We investigated the viaducts, cuttings and landslides, installed reinforced concrete piles and self-drilling anchors, fitted inclinometers to monitor ground movement and load-tested the completed structures.
How we worked
Route and landslide investigations
Boreholes, field and laboratory testing at viaducts, cuttings and landslides – the basis for designing the structures and stabilising the slopes.
Stabilisation and foundations
Reinforced concrete piles, self-drilling anchors, rockfall protection mesh and drains – carried out with our own equipment and crews.
Monitoring and control
Inclinometers to track landslide movement, laboratory quality control and load testing of the completed structures.
